UPDATES:
TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND IN SNOWFLAKE
Wrestling is the oldest and greatest sport on the planet.
The sport of wrestling dates back as far as 5,000 years and has been traced back to many great civilizations such as the Sumerians, Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. In the ancient Olympics it served as the deciding sport in the Pentathlon. Wrestling teaches work ethic, discipline, accountability, mental/physical toughness, builds character but most importantly confidence. Because as cheesy as it may sounds once a kid starts to BELIEVE anything is truly possibly.
I can go on and on about all the great things wrestling has to offer but it truly is one of the few sports where God given talent isn't king and I've seen so many kids have success because they were determined to. The Northern Arizona Grapplers exists to help kids build a foundation for life not wrestling. Most of the fundamental traits you will find in some of the worlds best wrestlers are traits every human being can use to thrive no matter what they decide to do in life.
For the last 23 years Northern Arizona Grapplers has been dedicated to giving kids a foundation for life. While everyone wants to win, the most important thing on the mat and in life is the ability to press forward no matter what obstacles stand in your way. All our coaches are volunteers and many even wrestled for the Grapplers when they were young and now are back in it with their own kids. Regardless, we all share a passion for the sport and have seen or been a part of so many success stories and wrestling will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our goal is to provide a fun and competitive atmosphere where kids will come to learn: the willingness to compete is, most often, more important than the will to win. And hopefully they'll forge some life long friendships along the way. Wrestlers are definitely a niche community and we're all in this together. So by becoming a Grappler are not just joining a club but becoming a part of the wrestling family! We look forward to seeing you out this season!
We Hope You'll Join Us.
Northern Arizona Grapplers Wrestling Club 4-11 years old
This year we will run three groups: Monday group, Wednesday group and a Tuesday and Thursday group. Mondays will be for new wrestlers and kids not looking to compete ages 6-11. Wednesdays will be for new wrestlers and kids not looking to compete ages 4-5. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be for experienced kids looking to compete. The Monday and Wednesday groups will be focusing on balance, tumbling, engaging with other kids, basic technique and games. The Tues/Thurs group will focus on technique, preparing to compete and games.
Cost is $50 for the season.
Registration for 4-11 yrs
For the young ones
Cost $50 for the season
Must be paid before January 6th to hold a spot for your child. There is a payment link on the main page. I will also email a link if needed.
These groups will only practice one day a week, either Monday or Wednesday. Mondays will be for 6-11 years of age and Wednesday will be for 4-5 years of age. Our goal is just to get them comfortable on the mat, engaging with other kids, learning how to take direction and hopefully picking up some tumbling and balance skills along the way. Mostly we just want an environment for them to run around, get energy out and just have fun. These practices will be loosely structured and will only teach basic technique and begin to get them comfortable in wrestling situations. If your child is advanced and ready to start a structured practice we are more than willing to move them into our Tuesday and Thursday group.
6-11 yr Registration
Practice at Coconino Tues and Thurs time TBD

Please understand space and limited and children who are not ready to be in this group will be moved to either Monday or Wednesday. Thanks for your understanding

This will be for age groups 6-11. Practices will run Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be a little more structured. Kids in this group should be serious about wrestling and capable of paying attention and not being a distraction to other kids. We will still have fun and keep things light but will move at a much faster pace than the Monday and Wednesday groups. Practices will be designed to teach a good stance, footwork, single leg, double leg, stand ups and sit outs off the bottom and several different pinning combinations. More important than technique though will be trying to develop good work habits. Our goal is to help kids grow confidence, work ethic, discipline, toughness (mental and physical) and a willingness to compete. With all that being said having fun will still be top priority!
This age group will a little more advanced than the younger group. Many kids in the is group have some wrestling experience so those who are brand new tend to catch up very quickly since we have so many kids who can help them along as we progress through technique and rules. Practices will be a mix of structured and unstructured and we will break kids up into groups with different focuses on technique. And of course we will do plenty of wrestling but practices will be more laid back and relaxed. This will be
